The Most Courageous Act

Asking for help is the most courageous thing that a person can do.

Depression, anxiety, those aren’t things that you can will away. I think sometimes in society, we feel like we have to show up and wear that mask and we can’t be, you know, the vulnerable person that maybe we are. Just being aware that strategies about breathing and yoga won’t work, if you are actually suffering from clinical depression, or you have an anxiety disorder. And you can often feel defeated if you are trying really hard to implement those strategies and nothing is working. And that’s okay! That is a hundred percent normal to feel that way. And it is also a signal that it’s probably time to ask for some help.

It’s not easy to ask for help. It is hard, right? And doing the hard thing makes you a courageous and strong person. So it is absolutely not a weakness. And we have to, each one of us, play a part in making sure that that is the message that we are putting out in the world. Cause in our world, asking for help is the most courageous act.

It is the most important thing that maybe a human does in their entire lifetime. That is the opposite of weakness.
